I’ve received the first copy of my book! I’m a little closer to finally publishing it, but… Disaster! I spotted a mistake in the thing. It wasn’t a huge one, but it was big enough to annoy me. Consequently, I donated my flawed, though original and maybe even valuable (who knows :O) manuscript to the local library. After that, I restarted the book publishing process. I’m sure I’m annoying everyone at Createspace, but hey, it’s good to make everything nice and polished. In case of any more mistakes I missed, I came up with a perfect get out clause: Me not editing my book properly, was an innovation. (Which to be fair, it probably is, at least in the books you know). I made this clear, at the end of my book. I may be the first writer ever, who actually points out his flaws and furthermore, praises the reader if he or she finds more of them. I’ve made ‘The Danger of Proverbs’ a kind of ‘spot the error’ competition, making me immune to any kind of criticism.
Again, after it was too late, I realised that the distressed looking black man on my cover should really be what a character of mine actually looks like. I initially chose him to be my cover model just because he looked upset (as you would be, if you saw countless people randomly exploding), but being upset shouldn’t be enough. Does anyone in my book match his appearance? Fortunately, yes, (though mainly because his descriptions are vague) and even more luckily, he has a reasonably big role in my story. I won’t tell you who I think the model should be, I’ll leave you to work that one out for yourself. You know what else was wrong with the cover? Its blurb had too many commas. You may have read my blog entry, where I discussed my inappropriate use of punctuation. Imagine my various mishaps being the first things you ever read from me. Not good.
Ok, now that everything seems to be technically fixed no matter what, I should be releasing my work, soon. Again, before I do so, I want to check things over with a real copy in my hands, just in case there is anything in my project that can somehow qualify as a true error. This time however, I will be ordering TDoP first class, so I can get everything over and done with, ASAP. After the physical copies are released to the public, I will then try and publish on Kindle. I have no idea how hard that will be, but I’m sure it will be possible… And I THINK I should end things, here, especially as I have nothing else relevant to say. But look how thin the paragraph was, just then… Let’s beef it up with an interesting observation concerning what I’ve just eaten. So, you get warnings that packets of nuts ‘contain nuts’… However, there is no notification on my box of cherries that eating the seeds can give you cyanide poisoning?? ‘Who eats the things?’ You may ask. An interesting point, but they’re easy to accidentally eat, aren’t they? Get your priorities right, food companies… Ok, now bye…
