So, another comedy competition I’ve been running on Facebook has ended, and the group ‘JaM’ are the victors. Their video deals with how men treat their girlfriends, versus how they treat their friends, and put simply, the differences are very unfair. I mean, that’s kind of it, really. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get at least 500 words out of what I saw, so why don’t you judge the entry for yourself? Here you are, check out the link… https://www.facebook.com/YouTube.JaM/videos/1919436368072762/?fref=mentions Pretty consistently amusing, isn’t it? Oh, you’ve twisted my arm, I’ll give my opinions as well. I guess the put downs were good. ‘You’re actually doing way better than Ellie is’, for example. It’s for the best that I posted the link though, isn’t it? The quote didn’t sound so funny without the acting. However, most importantly, the finished product was indeed entertaining.

How could the video be improved? Well, there are putdowns, and then there is domestic abuse. Maybe that stuff could be got rid of, but it could be worse, I guess. Living in the Ozzy Osbourne household would be a lot crazier, I’m sure. But still. I’ll tell you what I personally didn’t think were the highlights: Unfortunately I’ve gone a bit deaf from too much heavy metal and very recently I’ve been paying the price. Everything in the mini film was going fine for me, until after ‘thank you, you’re like a really patient, nice teacher and I kind of need that, because….’ then my perception abilities let me down and I heard something like ‘hinharbableblurbhebleburderbledo’. (Who knows, for whatever reason, that might have been what he actually said). Don’t worry, the rest of the video was perceptible for me, so I am qualified (in a way) to keep writing about what I saw AND heard.

But first and whilst on the subject of deafness, I thought I’d tell you of quite a funny story that happened to me a few years ago. I answered a phone call, and had a fairly long conversation about… something or other. (I can’t remember. Also I wasn’t really paying attention). However, at one point I had no idea what the woman on the other end said. I thought deeply about what she could have meant for a while, and I still had no clue. I hoped for the best, and simply answered her question with ‘yes’. The reaction I got however, was what I had been fearing the most. The woman replied by saying ‘er….. ok……’, like I was completely mental. To this day, I’d love to know what I said ‘yes’ to. I know it must have been totally random. Here are some possible things the lady could have spoken, followed by what I answered… ‘How long have you been living at your house, now?’ ‘Er… ’Yes’. ‘Er….. Ok….’ ‘What is your occupation?’ ‘Er… Yes’. And lastly, ‘How many hours a week do you work?’ ‘Errrr… Yes’. What can I say? Whoops, I guess.

Ok, back to the video. What is the outro tune that plays at the end of it? It’s awesome! It sounds like it’s from an old NES game or something, but most of the music from that console kind of sucked. (Apart from the classic Super Mario theme, of course). It really has everything going for it - funky chord progressions, basslines and melodies. Actually, now that I think of it… Why was that theme used? Because it sounded cool? I guess that kind of makes sense, but it doesn’t fit the tone of the video. I would understand something like death metal playing in the background during some of the angrier moments, so let’s find some and play it with the sketch. Ah. Ok, the brutal soundtrack didn’t work as well as I hoped, it just made the visuals look like some kind of avant garde wife beating documentary, which I’m confident wasn’t the intention. I’m also sure the actors are very very nice people in real life, and don’t even think of hitting people other than in comedy settings. Anyway, it was worth a try experimenting with the music, though. Alright, that’s it from me, NOW I’ve run out of things to say. byeeee.
