Happy New Year!... (?) (Blog 48)

Did I have a happy new year? (In other words, did I have a good time looking at the clock, as 11:59:59 became 00:00:00?) Not really. I certainly didn’t think that whole event was one of the highlights of my year, like fireworks, party popper and white wine companies want me to. But some people are really into it. They can’t wait to see the clocks reach that perfect zero. (However, when I boast on Facebook that I just saw my clock at the time 12:34:56, I get treated like a weirdo. It is a better number, though). Anyway, that whole zero fascination is either a great or a terrible thing. Either the fans of it love life so much, that even the smallest things get them excited, or alternatively, their lives are so awful, that’s pretty much all they have to live for.
Rather ominously, not only did I not particularly enjoy the new time (ok, it was alright), I didn’t notice any change in the atmosphere, whatsoever. That’s a little weird, considering the hype the event gets. I don’t know if that’s normal. However, I don’t think I should be too worried. I just googled the phrase ‘not noticing any difference after new year’, and I have found no evidence that I’m suffering from any known medical disorder. No weird brain cancer that’s effecting my special celebration noticing skills, it seems. Similarly, ‘being indifferent to the number ‘0’’ doesn’t seem to be a known condition, nor is not wanting to form a group and sing songs you don’t like. Phew!
How am I going to celebrate the rest of this ‘special’ day, the 1st of January 2018? I’m not. Does 1/1/2018 look like an aesthetically pleasing number to you? No? So who cares about it? I’ll tell what are nice numbers… 1/1/11111, 1/2/3456 or 12/34/5678. THEY’RE days worth celebrating and looking forward to. I hate to disappoint you, but the nearest cool date is 2/2/2222. (Or maybe 2/1/2121). It seems we have some waiting around to do. Even so, I doubt that anyone in their right mind would feel anything more the mild amusement or intrigue at those times, anyway. Thus, it’s time to get a hobby instead, or something, don’t you think?
Having said I’m not going to do any merrymaking… now that I think about it, I may watch the modern James Bond film ‘Spectre’, later. However, at this point I don’t know if that will be a true celebration, yet. It may well be a load of rubbish. But I doubt it. Most likely it will be a part-celebration as I like those kinds of movies, but what ever happened to all those cool gadgets, that were so common in the earlier parts of the series?? Alright, I’m going to have dinner now, and then go for a bike ride. Maybe that will be blog-worthy… Ok, I’m back and have nothing else to say. I was hoping I would be able to cycle through nothing but green traffic lights (as you may know that is one of my dreams), but sadly that wasn’t the case. Oh well. !eeeeeeeyb.
