Five Guys… In Staines! (Blog 458)

For a while I’ve been wanting to go to the Five Guys place in Staines as I’ve heard great things about the franchise. I’ve actually been to a similar restaurant before but in another town, and I wasn’t MASSIVELY impressed, but then again when I had Papa John’s for the first time, I wasn’t massively impressed, either. Boy how things have changed, PJs really are great. On my way to the town and whilst driving I saw one of my arch nemesis’s in front of me, that being a cyclist. Move! There was a also a police car in front of me, so I didn’t run the guy over but on seconds thoughts, I’ve never run a cyclist over before, so I guess I should stop obsessing about it. I’m just saying, if they kept to the left a little more, I wouldn’t have to worry. Anyway, in the Five Guys place, I ordered a burger and what would turn out to be a huge milkshake with a ton of cream! I was a little annoyed how I got the milkshake first, as I like most people would prefer to have the burger beforehand. Did you know in medieval times the dessert was eaten first? I wonder if that applied to kings as well at the time. If so, I quite literally ate like a king! That sounds good, but in the end I decided I didn’t really like living like a king in that respect. Definitely worth a try, though.
What was the quality of the food like? First up, I thought the milkshake was better than Gourmet Burger kitchen, equal to the legendary shakes in Staines I keep mentioning and not QUITE as good as 7Bone. All such places are found in the town, so if you ever want to do a milkshake tour, so to speak, you can start with the poorest shakes first and get better and better over time. Something to do if you’re bored, but is it truly living? Not really. How was the burger? Pretty good, but not quite as good as GBK, in my opinion. The ideal situation is to get the burger in GBK and then move on to get the shake, you won’t have to walk far. In a way, as you’ll go to two places, it will be double the event! When everything was eaten and slurped, it was time to get my music. On the way and in the shopping centre my shoelaces came undone which gave me a boost. ‘Why in God’s name would it do that, Simon?’ Well, earlier on in the day I changed my shoelaces on one shoe as it was very worn out. I don’t like DIY, changing shoelaces was DIY, technically speaking, so in a way I grew. There you go.
When in the CD shop I made my notes with my pen and paper, and then noticed a customer/stranger enter the shop as well. I didn’t know what to do as he gazed at me, so I just said ‘Hello’. I got a hello back, which was very nice. Remember how I said a Ramones album got ten perfect scores on Wikipedia and that I didn’t think it was that good? I ended up buying a best of album by the punk band. It’s the power of advertising, isn’t it? It’s not that powerful though, as I’m listening to it right now and still don’t like it that much. I also bought a ZZ Top album, perhaps because I saw a video on Youtube featuring the band. The power of advertising again? Nope, I just can’t be bothered to rearrange my alphabetised collection again, oooobviously. I also think it’s a shame how I have so few albums with band names beginning with the letter. Poor old Neil Zaza really is feeling very lonely in my collection, as is my other ZZ Top album. Never heard of Neil Zaza before? Well, now it’s time for a person and not just a CD to feel less lonely. Hello, Neil. :)
My XC-NN album is pretty lonely too, as is my Xandria album. As the former band consists of musicians who are all men, and Xandria is a woman’s name, maybe the proximity of the two CDs is making them feel close to each other metaphorically and not just literally? If so, I think that’s very sweet. Can CDs be attracted to each other? I really do hope so. Now the Ramones album is finished, I’ll check out the ZZ Top… Yeah, not bad! It’s a shame the band will never meet Aerosmith in my collection, as I think they would get along with the hard rock sound and all. First I’m suggesting Xandria and XX-CN should get together if they haven’t already, now I’m thinking of taking CDs from my collection and forcing ZZ Top and Aerosmith albums to mingle? A sad thing to do obviously, but it could be worse, I could mix various albums with musicians who hate each other. I could mix Eric Clapton with Van Halen, as there was a feud between the two. THAT’S behaviour to be concerned about, I was just being goofy before, I think. And…. bye!
