A Mini Visit! (Blog 280)

I was a little bit annoyed I got invited over to my brother’s family before I finished this month’s music reviews, simply because I like to get things out of the way. But that’s a difficult thing to explain as the deadline is weeks away, so I didn’t bother. If I did, it could seem like I just didn’t want to go. Then again, I’m not sure why I’d EVER point out why I was annoyed, so that didn’t really make sense. I’ve never heard someone explain why they were annoyed to see me anyway, even if they meant it. I was quickly shown a song called ‘The Stick Song’ which my mini niece genuinely loved. It wasn’t for me personally, but I guess it was pretty funny. The metal version of the song was more for me though, and my even more mini nephew seemed to think it was pretty badass. Definitely a future metal head.

My brother asked me if I wanted some Monster energy drink. Long term readers will know I was thinking ‘God no!…’ I mentioned in a monologue that I’d rather drink bath water, but what I should have said is I’d rather drink a mild acid. Not battery acid, but maybe someone else’s stomach acid could be relatively safe. Disgusting I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Luckily I doubt I’d ever be given the option unless a freakishly strange situation happens. Anyway, that’s how strongly I feel about caffeine, I certainly don’t want to drink massive amounts of the stuff. What was more tempting were the sweets my niece was eating. Them not being able to drive me mad was a huge plus for me. I did resist the un-health foods however, (there were lots of them for sharing, I’m not a petty thief) and I’m feeling pretty good about that as I’m typing this up. It was pointed out I’d lost some weight and that’s because my self control is basically amazing.

Annoyingly, most of what was talked about were TV programs, and I hadn’t really seen any of them. I kind of just stared blankly for a long time, which could also have been interpreted as rude, but really I didn’t know what else to do. On the plus side, I didn’t twiddle my thumbs at the same time and occasionally nod. I have done that, though. Luckily however, the topic of prisons was brought up and I did have some opinions about that. I pointed out how Norwegian prisons are like hotels and the country has a very low offending rate. That was it basically, though I think I did sound at least a little bit wise, even if I just repeated some information. Again, better than just staring. On a similar topic, I was told you can get sued by burglars if they slip on YOUR wet floor. That sounds a bit ridiculous to me though, so I didn’t bother memorising that ‘fact’. It’s a slippery slope. What if in a few years time, I end up believing you have to help such people commit robberies? When I go to court, who would believe that? I’m screwed.

A potential, future family camping holiday was also discussed. I don’t know if my brother meant it though. I mean a few days with each other sounds a bit excessive. I better have some damn good insights ready or I’d have to some more staring. Maybe the lockdown business got to him just as much as it got to me. We’ve all been feeling like we’ve been missing out on life. Still, sounds like fun. Though it may just be Monster energy drink talking. If it does funny things to me, I guess it could do funny things to my brother who of course I’m very closely related to. It has been pointed out a few times that one or both of us were adopted as we look so different, but I doubt that. Too much of a lie to cover up. That was pretty much the day out, I was only at the house for about an hour or so. Now I can get on with my music reviewing, which is nearly done anyway. Bye!!!
