Acin’ the Code! (Blog 471)

As explained a while ago, the backgrounds on my Wix site went wacky on me for a few days, causing me some genuine anxiety. Could my site have been hacked by a background hating lunatic? If so, why? Hence the worry. When I asked Wix support about the issue, it was explained it was a problem at their end, so you could imagine my surprise when I later contacted support about the same issue and they said they couldn’t recreate the problem I was experiencing. How is THAT a problem at their end? Sounds like my end to me. I was then told to change some coding in my site and as the blog title suggests, I aced it. Things were working for a good few seconds on my page then it went back to hell! I was then told to download Google Chrome and make a short video of the problems I was having with my site and to be honest, I was thinking ‘Nope. Can’t be bothered, sorry.’ However, would you believe such an attitude saved me a great deal of time? The day later, my site was back to normal without me doing anything! So there’s a lesson for you: Get frustrated? Do nothing. The idea doesn’t work with catching CRIMINALS, but it did with me. I’m wondering if the success was because of the code change or it was just a coincidence. What’s causing me just a tiny bit of concern is the fact the code I changed was called ‘essential.’ Scary stuff. Not what you want to mess around with, is it?

I liked how I discovered the problem was fixed on a Wednesday, AKA sausage and chips/kebab day. (In this case the latter). What better way to enhance the flavour of a meal than with the news of something great? Yes, it was a minor problem that was solved, but the relief felt? Not so minor, wowee. It’s wonderful I get excited so easily right? The drawback obviously being everything seems to upset me. And of course, getting excited so easily is a sign of a mood disorder. BUT HOW CAN IT BE A MOOD DISORDER OF IT’S POSITIVE? An interesting point, but one to keep to yourself and never shout to someone. I’m very grateful to the Wix team, you know? Not just for their time, but because in the end I earned a good 10p from them through my adverts. It would end up in me getting into serious trouble, but an idea for a scam is to complain my site has problems to millions of other sites, then I’d be earning a great deal of money. But who to complain to? I guess maybe I could approach a ton of random companies, but why would they care about my ‘difficulties’? Maybe I could say without Wiedemanncomedy, their business will be finished. It would take some explaining. Then again, someone could call the police on me and for what? 10p?

Now what to say? Oh yes, I must have checked my site’s pages around 100 times, in the last few hours. (Yesterday at the time of posting). They’re all still working which is great, but those at Wix could mistake such cautious checking with extreme self interest. ‘Wow I must really love my site.’ I just like to be sure, that’s all. I’m not going to be making any money from such views, as site runners don’t get paid that way. What I’m really not allowed to do is click on my own adverts, which is a shame as there is one advert saying ‘what type of ADHD do you have?’ and I really want to know. I searched for the question on the internet, but came across no quizzes on which type I could be. Darn. Here are the options: 1. Inattentive ADHD. 2. Impulsive/hyperactive ADHD. 3. A combination of the prior two. Well I am hyperactive but I thought that was just because I was buzzing because of the excellent site news. Maybe not. I’m certainly inattentive, wow. If I wasn’t impulsive I wouldn’t have quite so many problems with life, so I guess taking a quiz would be a waste of time. I’ve literally solved things in a few seconds - I’m option 3. I also know I was diagnosed with schizophrenia F20.0, which everyone knows is the paranoid type. Oh if only I had catatonic schizophrenia, that is F20.2. Wow. Palindrome. And on the longing note… bye!
