As I’m typing, it’s a Friday and I’m pointing out how I haven’t been to the three local charity shops in a while, so I thought it would be good to check up on them and see if they had any new cool albums on sale. Two of the shops were closed! On ‘Good Friday’? Whether that’s supposed to be funny or it’s unintentionally ironic, I don’t know. I’ll tell you what was cool though: The first two shops were shut as explained, and I assumed the last one would be, too. It wasn’t! Just a nice surprise, that’s all. Not brilliant, but it was something. I have to say I was impressed with the CDs on offer, though. Audioslave, Soundgarden AND Rage Against the Machine? I had all of the albums, but it was a nice thought that 1, 2 or even three people listen to the same music as me in the Surrey area!
Let’s Google the albums I bought… First up is Arcade Fire who are indie rock. I like indie, I like rock and I certainly like indie rock. Very high hopes for them. Wikipedia says they’re also baroque pop? That doesn’t sound quite so appealing, but let’s check out the music, now… I’m not sure I’d describe it as ‘baroque’… I’m getting the impression it’s called that because ‘barock pop’ sounds catchy. Unless you pronounce the word as ‘baroke’ as some people do. Then it doesn’t make much sense at all. Sure some of the AF music has violins in it, but it’s not Bach! The song with the church organ was plain weird. I guess some of the music is alright, but for it to join the honour of my CD collection it has to absolutely fantastic as you guessed it, rearranging my alphabetised collection would take AGES.
Next up is Kaiser Chiefs. More indie rock, so I should double like it? I guess it’s ok, but again it has to be fantastic, so I’ll skip it. Next up is Kings of Leon, but turns out I own that album already. In my defence I’ve hardly ever listened to it, hence the unnecessary buying. I DO like Foo Fighters, however I’m not too keen on best of albums, especially if I’ve got a few studio albums by the band as I won’t be getting too much new material. Let’s check if I’ve heard most of the songs already… Yep, I have about half the songs already on CD. Not going into my collection! Next up is Snow Patrol, and again I have the CD already. Don’t be scared, I’m not a huge SP fan, I think that’s what the problem is. However, the newer version of the LP is just in SLIGHTLY better condition so it will replace the old one.
Lastly is The Strokes! More indie rock? As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best find out of the six and adding it to my collection is more than doable, certainly more so than the prior. The music doesn’t have to be mega fantastic like Arcade Fire, but it should at least be good. You know what? I WILL add it now… Oh, adding it only took about 30 seconds. Why is a long story, that’s more irony for you. Ah, it’s bang in the middle of Stratovarius and Stryper, the band are in the company of heavy metal kings! A win for everybody! The Strokes really do have a mid noughties sound which makes sense as that’s when the album was released. Ahhh, it must bring up feelings of nostalgia? Maybe in a way, but mainly what I’m reminded of is depression and anxiety. On the plus side, the time wasn’t all bad and that’s what I will focus on.
I’m glad I found out it was Good Friday, as that meant the gym would close early. If I didn’t go shopping, I would have left for the gym late and would have hardly any working out time. :( Not irony, but an interesting fact. No actually it IS irony because that wouldn’t be good either! Annoying Friday, that’s what it should be called. To finish the day’s writing, I’ll mention how I previously assumed visiting charity shops wouldn’t be truly blog worthy, (actually I got quite a lot of material out of the trip) so I thought I’d blog about getting my hair cut as well, the day after, as the title suggested. I have taken a risk as I may have nothing to say whatsoever, except maybe something like ‘woo.’ It’s a funny word!
So here goes today’s blog! I’m back from the hairdresser’s, and have a good two things to write about! When all the cutting was over, I gave the barber cash and got change in return, which is what I needed as I’m seriously running low on such money. Last time I got a pizza and had to tip the delivery guy, I had to get all me and my dad’s change together and I only had 50p! Well something like 52p, but I didn’t think the extra change mattered, so yeah I stuck with 50p. How about £10? That’s what they deserve! Story two: As I had my glasses off when getting my hair cut, I really couldn’t see much at all. There was what looked like black scribbles on the table in front of me, but I touched them to check and they were actually bits of my hair. It was only 15 or centimetres in front of me, that’s how bad my vision is. Aaaaand blog over, bye!
