Today I went for a bike ride with a friend. That alone was pretty impressive as I really just wanted to stay in bed all day. Just one of those days I guess. I had a super day on my birthday and today I’m paying the price. That’s just the way it works. Not only could I not be bothered, I also had back pain from all the go karting and my ability to move at all was somewhat miraculous. Why I had pain when lying on my bed in certain positions and not when riding my bike, I don’t know. Maybe I’m making it up. I don’t know how my brain works. Only extremely well trained psychiatrists know that kind of stuff. Yes, it’s funny how you have to put in so much time and effort just to understand YOURSELF, but again, that’s the way it works.
Me and my chum went to Chobham Common to be precise. Did the lovely scenery make me feel better? No. But I kept on cycling like some kind of commando, trained to ignore pain. That’s how I saw myself. Whether I’d be allowed to be a commando or not I don’t know, but I’m guessing I wouldn’t be. Even if I passed the obstacle courses and everything, I’d still need my medication with me at all times, including in battles. The last thing any soldier wants is the be around someone who could go a bit weird and say stuff that doesn’t really make sense to put it mildly. On the other hand if my fellow fighters want a unique take on reality, maybe because of boredom or to brainstorm unique ideas - I’m their man. (But those ideas wouldn’t be good, now that I think of it).
But the cycling wasn’t all a pain, there were plenty of downhill slopes to enjoy. You can pick up quite a speed! Some people kind of got in the way at times and I was considering using the bell on my bike to warn them, but it was too far away from my handlebar grip, so I left it. Too dangerous - I could fall off. I know people would accuse me of being childish when considering using the bell, but it has to be there for a reason. Just because it isn’t as loud as an apparently more sensible car horn, doesn’t mean it can’t be heard. Would it really make me more of a man if I shouted ‘GET OUT OF MY WAY!’ Many would argue ‘no’.
After the ride me and my bud planned to go CD shopping in a nearby town. But not typical shopping, I mean charity shop shopping. Yes the CDs in such places simply get given away, suggesting they’re not very good, but give them a try and you will likely be rewarded. And I know for a fact the place we went to had three such shops to choose from! To get me in the mood, I bought a ginger beer. (Again, this isn’t my best blog, but I thought I might as well write it). The first charity shop wasn’t open, but two shops is still fine. The second one wasn’t open though and neither was the last. Damn. That’s it then! Bye!
