CD case rant to end all rants and to end all pain (Blog 378)

To start this blog off… NOOOOO!!!!! Yep, you guessed it, some MORON posted a CD I ordered through my letterbox and cracked the case. I’ve never heard of the company responsible, but they had a sensible name which bothered me. Here’s a better name for the company: Idiots. You’d think I’d get over the fact I get posted cracked CDs? Nope, it’s a pain that never ends. Yes, it does fade over time, but again it doesn’t go away completely. And if you have lots of cracked cases? Needless to say, more pain. There’s no joke whatsoever, as I’m typing this up, I feel a genuine frustration that can also be summed up with the single word (although highly elongated) whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!!?! ‘Arrrghh!!!!’ works maybe even better, but I don’t know if that’s a true word. I do know I owned a portable electronic game of the word based gameshow ‘Countdown’ and that ‘arrgh’ was an accepted word (as long as you spelt it that exact same way which I find a little strange, what’s wrong with argh?), but was the game right? No idea. I say my frustration can be summed up in a word, the song ‘Where Did All Go Wrong’ by Oasis kind of sums up how I feel as well. Or maybe a song by Slipknot.
On the plus side (you’d think, anyway) I got the CD 5 days earlier than the site said I would. I bet the company were like ‘let’s impress him and post the thing ultra soon! :D’ All that meant was I didn’t prepare and add my special note telling the postman to leave packages by the door. Because it was so genuinely painful for me, I left the company an intentionally abrupt comment simply saying ‘cracked case’. They should be happy with the three stars I gave them (I didn’t give them a one because they posted it early!) I could have left a longer rant explaining how the bubble wrap did nothing at all other than make the packaging harder to open, how I could have got the CD £7 cheaper elsewhere, how if I did do that, I’d be supporting the band more, not some strange unrelated company that don’t seem to give a toss, etc. But I didn’t. Because I’m sensible and professional. You should be too. >:(
Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Well, I saw an extremely impressive product advertised on the internet that’s a liquid that fills the cracks of broken glass, making it look as good as new. First, I don’t know if it works with plastic, second and most importantly, everyone says it’s rubbish and doesn’t work even with glass! You can get replacement CD cases but they almost cost as much as the CDs themselves, and judging the videos I’ve seen of them, they look complicated to use. I get the impression I’d crack them just trying to work with them. My nephew seems to be growing into the kind of person who’d be good with his hands, if he want to earn maybe 10p for every CD case replaced and earn maybe £20 to £30 doing my whole collection, I’d be more than impressed. A perfect collection, a life with no suffering. I’m not sure if he’d ever be interested in doing that though, so yeah, no light at the end of the tunnel.
As my blog title suggests, I’m trying to make the world a better place (for me) I really am. One day, one day, maybe everyone will at least ring the doorbell before considering posting CDs through the letter box. What really get to me is it takes less effort to use the bell than it does to squeeze something into a very small gap. Even if the bell didn’t work and the poster had two broken hands so he couldn’t just knock, and he had a fractured skull so he couldn’t head butt the door, I’d prefer to take my chances and have the poster leave the package on the door mat, making it an easy target for thieves. If it gets stolen, I’d just buy it again. If it gets cracked, basically there’s nothing to do other than maybe look to the future and exploit small children. And on that angry note, byeeeeeee!
