Kingston > Staines (Blog 296)

I decided I needed a mini treat for myself to stop me going mad. I haven’t done anything too note worthy recently to justify such celebrations, but I have at least continued to ramble in interviews and blogs, and write about silly things happening. How do I treat myself? The only way I know how - CDs and chocolates. Of course pizzas are great too, but that’s a Saturday thing. I don’t think anything BAD will happen if I deviate from my routine like some people do I think, rather I just like my routine. It makes me happy. Would you believe that later on in the day I would be seeing my brother’s family, too? Now that’s an action packed day. However, the down side to that would be I’d have to hurry in the shops. Of course my dad didn’t say WHEN I’d be seeing everyone as that’s not in his nature, just some time in the afternoon, only making things more unpredictable.

Not to worry, early in the morning I left for Staines. However, I soon found that a road was closed and that I had to follow a redirected traffic route. It won’t surprise you when I say I couldn’t be dealing with that, so I drove home. Time to go to Kingston instead, I guess. Half way through the walk to the train station, I realised I forgot my mask! I ran to the nearby chemist, but they were closed! I couldn’t walk home again and miss another train? What if I missed my family? I took a gamble and ran to the ticket guy in the hope he’d say I didn’t need a mask. I didn’t! Edge of the seat stuff, right? Imagine how I felt when I watched terrorist drama ‘Trigger Point’ where all sorts of crazy situations I’d be clueless to react to would happen. Well I’ll get back to you on that… :O

Anyway, on the train I was a bit bored, so I folded a small piece of paper into a zigzag shape to pass the time. When I half-unfolded it, I noticed the paper looked like the initials ‘M W’. Great if you know someone with those initials, like I do. It really is the perfect do it yourself present if you’re on a budget. Sadly, I haven’t seen my M W friend in many years now, so if I sent him my gift, he’d probably be seriously weirded out. Maybe not though. Would you believe after leaving the train for the town, I got lost? But my family! Several minutes of high speed jogging followed as I attempted to find Banquet Records. Just a harmless high speed tour of the area. Nothing to be concerned about at all. Well, I hope that’s how it was perceived. I may have looked like an idiot. :(

Success number 2! (Or number 3 if you count the origami). I found the shop! However, I was 10 minutes early, and had to wait for it to open. I found that out when I opened the door and the staff told me. Perfectly fine, right? Well, the fact the shop’s shutters were half way down should have told me they were closed. But at very least there were mixed signals, with the opening entrance. I was told not to bump my head on the way out and I did, which was annoying. I also bumped my head on the way in again a few minutes later, but in my defence, the shutters were higher up that time. I then bought two CDs, one by the trusty Jimmy Eat World, and the not so trusted and more risky Cadillac Blindside. I’ve never heard of them either, but I’d later find they got some good reviews. :O

I ran back to the station to find the next train home was delayed. Turns out I could have spent more time browsing the shop, but let’s not be greedy I guess. Even though I was annoyed, I wasn’t THAT annoyed. People say ‘say what you like about Mussolini, but at least he made the trains run on time,’ but come on. Is that all that matters to you? Trains? I guess some people like routine more than I do. I ran half the way home after leaving the station, and then got some chocolates for me, and my niece, who’s birthday is tomorrow. Oh yes, Trigger Point. There was a scene where a man was in a booby trapped car, so he couldn’t open the door or he’d explode. (And the man did open the door). Why not just open the window and climb through it? However, I only realised that a couple of days later, so if I was in charge of the anti terrorists, the guy still would have died.

Oh, change of plan, I’m seeing my family tomorrow. -_- Will that be blog worthy? Who knows? Byeeee!
