New Software! (Blog 281)

I’ve finally bought some script writing software, meaning I can write visual scenes, rather than radio skits, for the first time in about a year! I got it as an early Christmas present. I’m not impatient or anything (in theory), as it’s a tool rather than a true present, isn’t it? It’s not like someone getting a Playstation early, is it? However, that does mean I’m not allowed to have fun when writing TV sketches, which is a shame. You can’t have fun with tools. I wouldn’t trust anyone who says hammers are fun at least. A bit scary. I was kind of dreading downloading the program, as me and computers in general don’t see eye to eye. I see computers as a threat to people’s livelihoods and confusing to use, computers see me as paranoid and lacking in common sense. I’m actually on a bit of a high, right now. I mean the installation process went SO well. I did ask support for help once, but within 15 minutes, (14 minutes :O) I withdrew my question. Did I cause annoyance or a sense of relief? I’m assuming the latter question goes beyond the staff member’s training, so I won’t ask. All I’m looking for in a reply is a simple smiley face, though. I think I deserved it.

Over the last 12 months, I’ve been collecting TV-based ideas which I’m looking forward to expanding upon. I have about four or five, which isn’t bad, but it’s a small number when compared to my podcasts. But then again, such shows all have fairly similar themes (James freaking out on people, and other people getting upset), so maybe I shouldn’t be too concerned with my apparent lack of inspiration. So, I’ll be posting lots of sketches, soon? I should be, but before that stuff I want to get my next comedy contest blog out of the way. As it’s the 50th contest special, I want to do something big, so I might have to spend a fair amount of time on that. Then again, I might just get frustrated and post a normal size blog, written with dramatic words such as ‘Woo!’ and ‘No way!’ and post lots of amazed faces, such as :O and :S. A simple idea, but it does create a sense of event.

Want some teasers? I’m planning on doing a podcast Christmas special, where you actually see James! Will he find a cure or will he remain pigeon? That remains to be decided on. That’s all you’re getting. Stop being impatient. Well, I guess it wouldn’t be impatient if you want to see the podcast for work purposes? This blog is getting weird, isn’t it? Who would want to work with an obnoxious pigeon?? Very surreal. ‘Hang on Simon, I bet you THINK you downloaded the program, but in actuality, it probably doesn’t even work.’ Ohhh. You had to ruin the tone of this blog with your pessimism, didn’t you? Actually, I’ve written a test script. It’s only one word long, so it’s not going to make it onto my site unless my problems with creativity are far worse that I thought, but I’m not going to delete it, as it’s such a pleasing memory.

On another positive note, many British people will be familiar with the gameshow ‘Pointless’ where the aim of the game is to know and pick the most obscure answer to a small number of questions. What the question is, is your choice unless someone beat you to it. Well… just a few days ago, I knew the answer to ALL five or so questions. I’m not sure why I pointed that out in this blog, I guess I’m just pleased with myself. Irrelevant, but a nice story. And of course, I needed to lighten the tone, because of that pessimistic asshole spoiling things. Taking things further to the point of arrogance, I could have correctly answered the show’s last question on a good three occasions! Not necessarily the prior questions, but final questions are toughest, no?? I think that’s it from me! Byeeee!
