Rude Forumla 1? (Blog 284)

This blog may be a bit of a challenge, as I want to watch the Formula 1 final, but apparently my brother’s family is coming to visit me at ROUGHLY the same time. (My brother is notorious for being extremely vague and my dad is notorious for giving misinformation just for the sake of it, so I don’t know what time exactly. Far from it). Obviously, it would be rude to prioritise the race over my nephew and niece, but at the same time, I really want to watch the final. As a compromise, I may have to watch only parts of the race. In the worst case scenario, I could just imagine I watched the race and blog about that. That would be depressing, but anything really could happen.
Still alone in my room, I have the TV on in the background as I’m typing this up, and the race is going to start in just a few minutes. Everyone on the tele sounds very excited, but I bet Lewis Hamilton loses. Ah. My dog is barking, perhaps suggesting my visitors are here, but at very least I want to see the start of the race. Very tense. Great blogging. A bit weird and unprofessional at times, but I am trying, honestly. Ok, my dog’s stopped barking, so I guess it barked for some other reason. Maybe my dad’s been training my dogs to bark at confusing times. Ridiculous? You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.
The race is really about to start now, and I noticed drivers going left and right on the track very quickly. Are the trolling? Actually, I think they’re warming their tyres up. It does look silly, though. It’s begun! Hamilton takes the lead immediately! Judging by the commentator’s tone of voice I missed something very exciting as I typed that up, but the important thing is Lewis is still winning. As I’ve watched a number of similar races, I’m expecting nothing of any significance to happen for a good few minutes at least, so now I can relax a bit. Yeah, ten laps in and nothing has changed. The cars go very fast, but maybe they could go faster to up the tension?? In some computer games you get nitro to give you a boost. Too dangerous? Well put it this way, when was the last time an F1 driver got killed? The sport is genuinely less dangerous than cycling and maybe even walking down a busy road.
Ok, let’s be fair, lap 22 is actually pretty exciting. Some actual overtaking! Lewis is still winning, though. Lap 25 and they’re here! (A lot of time passes)... … The race is over! Turns out it wasn’t really that rude watching the TV downstairs as my family visited. Doing so has actually been the norm since the 1950s. I find that strangely comforting. It’s something, isn’t it? I also eat a normal amount of fruit, I sleep a little longer than usual, but I don’t sleep a freakish amount, etc., etc. Just saying, it’s not all crazy. :) Anyway, you want to know how the race ended? I thought Lewis was going to win for a very long time. We all did. Then a random driver crashed that nobody in their right mind would care about (other than close friends and relatives), so a safety car was brought out, Max caught up with Lewis to a ridiculous degree, and then won. That is not fair.
I’m not sure exactly how long that really annoyed me for, but let’s say it was at least 15 minutes. As I’m typing this up, I’m still just a little bit miffed. On a lighter note, after the race, a Christmas tree was erected then decorated. Not all bad. There was light at the end of the room, so to speak. (The lit up tree was indeed at the end of the room). If you thought that modification of an old proverb was cheesy, I spent about two hours trying to come up with that. I’ve been hit with a severe case of writer’s block. The rising threat of coronavirus darkened my mood more than F1 ever could, (I’m sorry, Lewis, but I’m simply not that much of a fan) but I’m still going to risk another trip to London, and a trip to Kingston to buy presents. Is Kingston in London? I don’t think anyone knows for sure. Bye!
