Yesterday, I went to Whipsnade zoo again, with my dad, brother, two sisters in law, nephew AND two nieces! Lots of people, right? Well to be fair, my youngest niece didn’t really do anything of interest as she just slept the whole time. I’m not even sure she’s reached the age she can see yet, so I’m not sure why she was brought along. Oh yes, so she wasn’t home alone. Though if she was home alone, she wouldn’t have noticed so would it matter? On second thoughts, yes. Of course it would, now let’s move on. In the zoo car park, there were two car number plates that had almost identical last letters! The very last letters were different but they were next to each other in the alphabet. Not only that, the two cars were also right next to each other. Not anything too exciting but certainly a warm up to start the day. Other highlights included a number plate that looked like ‘NHS’. Not too exciting without an explanation, but my sister in law is a nurse! Had I pointed it out to her, she may have loved it just as much as me if not more so. But I didn’t point it out as it’s just one of those conversations that can go down in flames. Maybe one day I’ll stop talking about number plates, but I really do look at all of them.
You may remember last year in the countryside area outside of the attraction, a faraway building that appeared to be in flames could be seen. Don’t worry, the fire has now gone out. I know nurses have gone on strike but firemen? Not sure. If so, there would be the proof right there if the building was still burning, but again, it HAS gone out. After enjoying the view and local penguins, me and my dad got some pizza. Some of it had been turned to ashes, but the rest of it, not bad, and I’m sure if the pizza was delivered on fire, it would be put out immediately. I think last year, we all didn’t see the rhinos. This year we did at least, and you know what? They were very big and that means very cool. The bigger the better is true for pretty much everything, unless it’s a huge swollen lump on your face, obviously. After that, my family went to I think a jungle like room with I’m assuming special jungle butterflies in it. My main interest wasn’t so much in the creatures, I was more looking around to see if the humid climate made other people uncomfortable. If it made people feel more uncomfortable than me, I win. But I never asked how people were feeling, so sadly I’ll never know. And of course the weather isn’t the only thing that makes people feel uncomfortable, simply being in my company can, too.
After that, my nephew played in the sand which was fair enough, but what didn’t make sense to me was the everyday bucket you could fill up with the stuff found at the beach. Not sure where the enjoyment came from there, and what it had to do with zoos I have absolutely no idea. The bucket was raised in the air a little and fixed on a pole so you could spin the container which I guess was something, it made it more entertaining than just filling a motionless bucket with sand, but again, just a little random. Similarly random was the large glockenspiel like instrument where I played the Rug Rats theme. I was hoping for a huge round of applause, but sadly I had to explain what I was playing. Never mind. They were all the day highlights, really. I could have talked about visiting the more common animals but they’re common aren’t they? What’s the point? Interestingly, the more standard animals were seen last, creating a satisfying trip out on the whole. We started light with the number plates, then there was the really cool stuff, then we ended on a calming come down! In that respect, the day out was structured like an epic film! Not a thriller, but definitely a mystery. Bye!
